mcnaughton trail ultra pictures

Further good news from the weekend. See email below from Bob Nelson. Great job Bob, Jeremy and all.


These are a few of the pictures of the McNaughton Trail Run I ran
Saturday 4-11-09.

I did finish and finished running across the finish line. 12 hours
56 minutes and 50 seconds 12:56:50. 48th/ 85 -Mark Stegmaier & Lynn
Hawbaker 12:23:05 both @ 34th /85 -Tom Waterman & John DeDoncker
-11:29:15 - 18th & 19th/85 - the winner was 8:47:55 - a 10:33 pace

Jeremy Dopler (A young man from Davenport) finished his first 100 12th/
27 finishers 30:52:47 -(31years old) - we ran a couple loops together.
Cindy Heisendorfer finished 33:29:08 20/27 but 3rd woman only four
women finished- there were 89 who registered and only 27 finished -
the winner was from Knoxville IA Joe Winch 52 -23:53:50

12 of the some 50 registered finished the 150 - winner "GET THIS
TIME" 34:42:16 a 13:52 pace. Ultras are a different race -
enjoyable tough fun.

IL marathon pictures 4/11/09

Many thanks for all the good times had by all at this event. We must have had at least a dozen PR's, first time marathoner Renee Hildebrandt and Boston Qualifies for Brenda Ripslinger and Scott Hoffman. Thanks to Dave for the tremendous job as 3:40 pacer, to Smitty the bus driver and bus 262 for luck, and the Muscatine Running Friends who came to share our adventure. A fast flat course, perfect weather. So many turns! Thank you to all the good friends. Much appreciated.

IL marathon - let's light this candle

The happy runners from Quad Cities and Muscatine are snug in their beds, with visions of PR's dancing in their heads.

Here's a link to a blog I set up to capture photos and video and articles regarding the Armory Park Project in Rock Island I have been involved with as structural engineer for about 2 years. The amenities for runners and cyclists will be primarily water and shade and restrooms.

Soon I will post some renderings of the proposed park features.

weekly reader - on marathons

For those who went to school of a certain age, you recall the "Weekly Reader." A little newsprint supplement, the teacher would handout to give you something to focus on for five minutes when she was at her wits end. Somewhat surprising, for those not in teaching or living with the elementary school set, the Weekly Reader still exists. My youngest came home with this interesting little piece on the "Great Wall Marathon." See if you can get the right answers!
