After a winter of training on snow and mud at most of the trail venues in the area, we opened a discussion with the Park Ranger at Wildcat Den State Park. We are going to have a trail run at Wildcat in mid November 2010!
Very low key...low entry fee, optional t-shirts. The event will be a fundraiser in cooperation with the park to raise money for a new playground. The State of Iowa will match donations raised by the event.
Need your help....Need a catchy name. One of my quieter running companions came up with the first few.

- Too Den Much
- Denterrific

Wildcat Den Trail Run?

i was very happy to read this. I ran Clinton Lake just this last month. It was my first ultra and I had a great time. Chris is a wonderful guy and did an amazing job as RD at Clinton Lake. Any idea yet on what sort of distance the race will be? Any opportunity for a trail run in the QC area is very welcome.
I can think of a few, but the one I think is the best is the one Joshua said and the following:

ohhh...i do like the Wildcat Trail Chase idea. has my vote.
I am thinking of up to 5 loops of a six mile course. Say 30 miles or 50k. Someone else suggested Wildcat 50k.
Anybody doing longer than 26.2 gets their name in Ultrarunning Magazine.

I love the idea of the Wildcat 50k here in the QCA. I've been looking for a 50k to do this fall and this would work out great. Appreciate the work on this Larry.
