mathews qualifies - brady street challenge

From the back of the pack, QCRunner agrees...that last 150 yds is a b*.

"As he came down the hill to cool down after qualifying for the Brady Street Challenge on Thursday night, Matt Mathews couldn't resist poking a little fun at his friend, John Kvapil, who stood on Brady Street directing traffic.
Kvapil hadn't joined Mathews in the qualifying run because he had to work, but Mathews didn't want him using that as an excuse for not running the sprint July 28.
"He's going to qualify next Thursday," Mathews said with a smile. "I'll probably take his spot out here, because I don't have to work then."
Nor does he have to qualify after completing a typical sprint up the hill for him, starting slow and then passing the other runners in his heat near the end of the race.
"I don't get caught up in the race while I'm running it," Mathews said. "I run my own quarter-mile. A lot of guys take off too fast, and when you get to that flat spot, you think it's going to be easy."
