Last time I saw John Tilp, I think it was mile 95 of 2009 Leadville 100.
Great run this morning with John in town for a friends wedding. John is shown at right with nephew Trevor who is contemplating local fall running options....maybe QCM or Des Moines? John is getting ready for Arkansas Traveller 100 in early October. Good luck John!
He relocated to Arkansas (elevation 500 ft maybe) from Colorado (elevation 8000 ft or so.) Humidity a factor more than elevation now.
Talked at length about his run in 2010 at Wasatch. I pitched Wildcat 50k and spilled some war stories about Tahoe and Leadville 2011. Maybe John can get back for Wildcat...."it's like a frickin' church potluck...feast in the woods. Show up, shut up and run."
Great guy...him and Dave Jessen inspired me to get into uber running.

panorama - Quail Mountain - Leadville 8/21/11
The first panorama from the trip. 13,500 ft peak. 25 photos with an old 5 megapixel Canon SD600 that has logged several thousand run miles. Stiched with Microsoft Composite Editor. 16026 x 1954 pixels, covering 323 deg of horizontal rotation.
From left...Missouri Mtn, Mt. Bedford, Mount Hope at middle, Mts. Elbert and Massive, Twin Lakes and Leadville in the distance, Clementine where bikers go at right.
Some resolution lost here, but you get the idea. Clouds rolling in, showers later in day.

2010 quad cities marathon elevation chart
Someone asked about elevation on the Quad Cities Marathon. There appears to be no chart on the website, sooo...here is a GPS plot of the 2010 course. Yes, a marathon is 26.2 miles. I didn't shut off the Garmin at the end of the race.
The data is not smoothed, massaged or altered in any way, but you get the idea. Flat as a pancake except for - I-74 Bridge (mile 1), up the hill in Bettendorf (mile 2-3) and Centennial Bridge (mile 10).

cucumber salad
4-5 medium cucumbers
10-15 small roma tomatoes
4 medium bell peppers
6 small onions
Slice cucumbers thin. Dice tomatoes, peppers, onions. Mix with balsamic vinegar, olive oil, honey, apple cider vinegar, salt and pepper to taste. Marinate over night in refrigerator for tastes to develop.
Regards-
Larry
